Guidelines for a Promo or Newsletter for a trip.

The following are some suggested guidelines or considerations. They are in no particular order. You might select those that are appropriate or use your own. The key is to encourage and inform participants.

Camp sites: Room for #, grass, shade, ground - tent pegs
Catering: Self, provided, picnic, joint with others
Comments: Summarise, sell it, excite, overview, highlights
Contacts: Mobile phone, Leader 1. Alternative contact 2. Family emergency in glovebox
Cooking: Gas appliances only, open fire, take wood, fire bans
Costs: Money, campsite, accommodation, entries, tours
Depart from: Be specific, address, nearby landmark
Destination: Use a catchy title (e.g. “Mulga Wattle Wander”). Summarise & promote
Distance: Return kms, bitumen, gravel, tracks, off-road
Duration: Days, overnight, variations. Join part way
Equipment: Recovery, first aid, CB, tools, spares, GPS
Facilities: None, showers hot/cold, toilets, take/dig long drop
Fuel required: Full tank at start, carry extra? Fill on way
Leave at: Be specific with 15 minute elastic, no waiting
Maps: Needed, suggested
Pets: Yes/No
Route conditions: Easy, moderate, hard, expedition, prior experience
Route via: Main towns, points of interest
Stops: Pee, fuel, snacks, lunch, and shopping
Trailers: Yes/No. Campers/caravans
Vehicles: Model suitability, modifications, driving experience, criteria, scrutineering
Water: Take all, quality, lake, ocean, rockhole, bathing, wells
What: The flavour and the ‘doing’ of the trip. Camping, driving, sights, 4WDing etc.
Where: Brief outline, towns, visit what (see comments)


Trip leaders are always required. You are encouraged to take your turn to run a trip - you can do it! By all means ask a committee member or member for tips. We are happy to assist in any way.
