The WA Department of Transport has issued Information Bulletin IB-132C which relates to the fitment of additional vehicle lights. This has been updated to include lightbars and some of the points are
• Driving lights must be fitted to reduce injury to pedestrians.
• Driving lights must not obstruct the drivers view of the road.
• The light emitted does not cause discomfort to the driver.
• Driving lights must be switched off when high beam headlights and not in operation.
• Driving lights must automatically switch off when high beam headlights are turned off or dipped.
• Driving lights that have Daytime Running Lights (DRL) incorporated must comply with the DRL requirements
• Driving lights may only be used where there is no other vehicle within 200 metres in front of your vehicle or if the headlights of the oncoming vehicle are dipped.
Fitment of additional driving lights
• One or more driving lights (to a maximum of four) can be fitted.
• Must be front facing and not higher than the front edge of the bonnet.
• Fitted symmetrically (same position on both sides of the vehicle).
• A single driving light must be located on the centre line of the vehicle.
• Any additional accessories including driving lights must not be installed on top of a bull bar or nudge bar where the additional driving lights are higher than the front edge of the bonnet, or protruding forward of the bumper bar, bull bar or nudge bar.
• The mounting brackets must be rounded and not have any sharp, pointed or angular edges.
